Women’s Swimming and Diving Captures Fifth at LEC Championships

DARTMOUTH, MA – The Western women's swimming and diving team doubled its point total from last year's Little East Conference Championships as they captured fifth place at the 2017 Little East Conference Championships at the Tripp Center Natatorium on Saturday. Sophomore Brianna Christiano (Prospect, CT) paced the Colonials, earning the third spot in the 100-yard fly.

"This was a great way to finish the LEC season. We had great races by everyone on the team. There were personal and season best times for the whole team. This coaching staff couldn't be happier with the results. We feel as a team, our arrow is trending way up," said assistant coach Nate Stenabaugh following the improved performance.

Freshman Oliva Wright (East Hartford, CT) followed up Christiano with a fifth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle after grabbing the ninth spot in the 100-yard backstroke.

Keene State seized first place, while Eastern and host UMass-Dartmouth took home second and third place honors, respectively. Western return to the pool for the NEISDA Championships hosted by the University of Rhode Island on February 17.
