NEW LONDON, CT - Western Connecticut State University junior midfielder Olivia Kosilla (Ellington, Conn.) had five goals and three assists and rookie attack Brooke Baldelli (New Fairfield, Conn.) scored two goals and assisted on three others to finish with five points in Thursday night's 17-8 loss at Connecticut College in the Whaling City.
Connecticut College senior Tina Balzotti (Duxbury, Mass.) exploded with six goals, reaching another career milestone by netting her 100th collegiate marker in leading her team to its second straight win.
The Camels improved their record to 3-10 while the Colonials fell to 6-8.
Senior Lacey Hale (Winchester, Mass.), Jamie Navoni (Natick, Mass.) and Kirby Heffrin (Marblehead, Mass.) scored two goals each. Anna Jorgensen (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Hannah Donegan (Great Falls, Va.) both sandwiched goals around a pair of assists in three point nights for the hosts. Erin Martin (Scituate, Mass.) and Navoni had four ground balls each in the triumph.
Meg Raskin (Westwood, Mass.) made six saves in the opening half. Megan Mullin (Sudbury, Mass.) Stopped four shots in the second stanza.
Senior Missy O'Donnell (Bridgeport, Conn.) made nine saves in the setback.
Loesch beat the buzzer with a goal just .8 seconds left in the opening half to vault the Camels out to an 8-4 lead at the break.
Kosilla got one back for the Colonials 1:09 into the second half to make it an 8-5 game.
Balzotti scored on the ensuing possession to push the lead back to 9-5.
Then with 24:19 to play, Donegan assisted Balzotti on her fourth goal of the night that put her in the century club, catapulting the Camels out to a 10-5 advantage. Connecticut College continued to pull away en route to the 17-8 win.
