Men's Tennis Falls to Bridgewater State, 6-3

DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University men's tennis team fell to visiting conference foe Bridgewater State, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at The Westside Courts. Senior Matthew O'Keefe (Cromwell, CT), junior Adam Howard (Waterford, CT) and rookie Jacques Fortier (Southbury, CT) each notched singles victories for the Colonials in the defeat.

"We had our chances in doubles to win two matches and couldn't take advantage of that. Needing to win 5 of 6 singles matches thereafter is a tall order," said WestConn head coach Shawn Stillman following the loss.

In singles play, the most impressive performance came from Fortier. After dropping the opening set, he rallied to capture the second (6-3) and the third (10-7).

With the loss, the Colonials fell to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in LEC play, while Bridgewater improved to 4-2 and 2-1. WestConn returns to action for yet another league tilt when they host Rhode Island College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
