NORTH HAVEN, CT - After falling to Springfield College on Saturday, the Western Connecticut men's tennis team rebounded to claim a 6-3 victory at Albertus Magnus on Sunday. With the win, the Colonials improved to 1-2 overall.
WestConn senior Jason Hipona (Orange, CT) got things rolling with a straight set victory (6-3, 6-0) over Zach Hart to begin singles play. Classmate Matthew O'Keefe (Cromwell, CT) followed it up with a 6-3, 6-2 win before rookie Myckland Cothias (Danbury, CT) and junior Ronald Mitchev (Shrub Oak, NY) wrapped up singles competition with victories for the Colonials.
In doubles play, Hipona combined with freshman Jacques Fortier (Southbury, CT) to win the opener, 8-1. Shortly thereafter, O'Keefe and Cothias put together a stellar effort to down their opponents, 8-3.
WestConn returns to action at John Jay on Thursday at 4 p.m.
