MIDDLETOWN, CT – The Western Connecticut baseball team fell to 15-18 overall following a 10-0 loss at non-league foe Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Bryan Harper (Ledyard, CT), junior Clete LoRusso (New Milford, CT) and rookie Matt Mancini (Waterbury, CT) each finished with 2-for-4 showings at the plate for the Colonials.
The hosts hopped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first. WestConn would load the bases in the third but hit into a groundout double play to end the threat.
Wesleyan tacked on five runs in the seventh en route to the win. With the loss, WestConn junior right-handed pitcher Andrew Fogarty (Mystic, CT) dropped to 1-2 overall, while Ryan Earle improved to 5-0 for the hosts (18-14).
The Colonials return to action for a doubleheader against Little East Conference rival UMass-Boston on Thursday at 4 p.m. to wrap up the regular season.
