FORT MYERS, FL - Senior EJ Lavoie (East Granby, CT) and sophomore Adam Wilson (Southington, CT) combined for eight hits and seven runs batted in as the Western Connecticut State University baseball team closed out its Florida slate with a 19-8 victory over St. Lawrence University on Monday morning.
Lavoie went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI and scored one run while Wilson went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and five RBI. He also scored three runs for the Colonials.
WestConn, 8-7, pounded out 22 total hits including junior left fielder Joel Luna's (Queens Village, NY) first home run in a Colonials' uniform. Kyle MacLean (Southington, CT) and Zach Sagar (Trumbull, CT) each went 3-for-5 against the Saints.
Michael Esposito (Plainfield, CT) earned the victory after going six innings. He allowed two runs, just one of them earned, on six hits whilte striking out four and walking two. Kyle Sanford (Torrington, CT), Shawn Nadeau (Groton, CT) and Andrew Fogarty (Mystic, CT) each worked an inning of relief for WestConn.
Seniors Mic Regan (New Rochelle, NY) and Adam Reichel (Camillus, NY) led St. Lawrence, now 1-3. Regan went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs while Reichel went 4-for-4, drove in a run and scored three times.
Evan Reichel (Camillus, NY) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs, six of them earned, on 11 hits. Over four and one third innings, he struck out two and walked two. He is now 0-1 on the young season.
WestConn will open its northern slate at Ramapo College on Tuesday, March 28. First pitch against the Roadrunners is slated for 3:30 pm.
