  • Lyons, Callahan, and Buscetto named to 2016 Baseball All-LEC Team

    PAWTUCKET, RI - Western Connecticut State University senior Todd Lyons (Norwalk, CT) and senior Chris Callahan (Southington, CT) were named to the 2016 All-Little East Conference baseball First-Team, while teammate sophomore Bill Buscetto (Old Lyme, CT) received Second-Team honors in an announcement released by the league office this afternoon.
  • Sixth-Seeded Western Baseball Falls to No.5 Eastern in LEC Championship Game, 13-9

    Despite downing top-seeded host UMass-Boston twice during the LEC Postseason Tournament this week, the Western baseball team was unable to pierce the win column against fifth-seeded Eastern as the Colonials fell to the Warriors for the second time in as many days. This time falling to the Warriors, 13-9, in the LEC Championship Game. Senior outfielder Matt Greene (New London, CT) paced Western with a 4-for-4 hitting performance which included three RBI's in the losing effort.

    BOSTON, MA - After falling to fifth-seeded Eastern Connecticut, 7-3, on Day 3 of the double elimination LEC Tournament, the Western Connecticut State University baseball team bounced back with a 17-14 win over UMass Boston on Friday evening to advance to the championship round against in-state rival Eastern Connecticut on Saturday afternoon at UMass Boston.
  • Sixth-Seeded Western Baseball Eliminates No. 4 Seed Plymouth State, 4-1, in LEC Postseason Tournament

    After stunning top-seeded host UMass-Boston on Wednesday, senior pitcher Craig Frobel (Southington, CT) tossed eight strong innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts to lead the sixth-seeded Western baseball squad to a 4-1 victory over No. 4 seed Plymouth State on Day 2 of the double elimination LEC Postseason Tournament. The Colonials return to action on Friday at Noon against fifth-seeded Eastern.

    The sixth-seeded Western baseball team upended top-seeded host UMass-Boston, 4-3, in the opening game of the double elimination LEC Postseason Tournament at Monan Park on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Colonials will return to action against No. 4 seed Plymouth State - who downed No. 3 UMass-Dartmouth - on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

    After nearly a week off due to treacherous weather conditions, the Western baseball team finally took the field for a doubleheader at LEC foe Plymouth State on Friday afternoon. The Colonials seized the opener, 4-3, in extra innings before falling in Game Two, 10-2.

    GORHAM, ME - The Western baseball squad split an LEC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Southern Maine. The Colonials took the opener, 4-3, off a strong pitching performance from senior hurler Craig Frobel (Southington, CT) who allowed just one earned run in eight innings with seven strikeouts. Trailing 2-0, the Huskies rallied in the bottom of the ninth to capture Game 2, 3-2.

    DANBURY, CT – After rallying to stun Purchase College yesterday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball team fell to visiting non-conference opponent Manhattanville College, 6-4, Thursday night at Westside Field. Seniors Chris Callahan (Southington, CT), Nick Delotto (Southbury, CT) and sophomore Stanley Rijo (Torrington, CT) each finished with one hit and one RBI apiece to lead the Colonials.

    KEENE, NH – After splitting a doubleheader against LEC foe UMass Boston on Saturday, the Western baseball team split yet another conference twinbill, Sunday afternoon against Keene State. The Colonials dropped the opener, 7-3, before pounding out 18 hits en route to a 14-8 win in Game 2.

    BOSTON, MA – The Western baseball team opened Little East Conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader split against UMass Boston. The Beacons rallied to take the opener, 4-2. The Colonials retaliated with a late rally of their own in the nightcap, erupting for 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning en route to an 11-1 victory. Western returns to action for yet another conference twinbill at Keene State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
