    DANBURY, CT – After scorching Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon, the Western Connecticut State University women’s basketball team surged past visiting non-conference foe Purchase College, 129-63, on Tuesday evening at the O’Neill Center’s Feldman Arena. Junior guard Jancy Sherwood (Poughquag, NY) netted a game-high 36 points, while senior guard Kaitlyn LaBonte (South Windsor, CT) chipped in with 28 for the Colonials. Junior guard Amber Jones (Bronx, NY) paced Purchase with 19, while senior guard Kayla Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY) added 15.

Rowe – who transferred from Connecticut College – shot a scorching 10-for-18 (55.6%) from the field, while fellow transfer Geary McLeod (Meriden, CT) – from Mitchell College – chipped in with 10 points for the Colonials.

The Colonials will return to action in Day Two of the tournament when they meet Mitchell College – who lost to host Brandeis – in the consolation game on Saturday.
